This week, join us for a special session about the AARP Fraud Watch Network: Insights on AARP’s Response to the Fraud Crisis
Kathy Stokes of the AARP Fraud Watch Network will join us to share information about the Fraud Watch Network, their approach to the fraud issue and how they are positioning it to build demand for a meaningful response to the fraud crisis. Kathy will talk about three often devastating scams and share their new “Pause, Reflect, Protect” campaign.
Speaker Bio:

Kathy Stokes Senior Director, Fraud Prevention Programs, AARP Fraud Watch Network

Kathy Stokes is a nationally recognized leader in fraud prevention. She leads AARP’s fraud strategy and heads AARP Fraud Watch Network, which focuses on prevention through education and systemic change and on supporting fraud victims.

Kathy has led her team in launching a national campaign to change the narrative around fraud victimization (www.aarp.org/wordsmatter) and creating a simplified educational effort to help people recognize and prevent fraud (www.aarp.org/pause). She also guided AARP in becoming a founding member of the National Elder Fraud Coordination Center (www.fightelderfraud.org), a public‑private partnership that supports law enforcement in investigating elder fraud.

Kathy is an advisor to the board of the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators and to the Senior Issues Committee of the North American Securities Administrators Association. She also serves as Board Chair to the National Elder Fraud Coordination Center and is on the board of the North America Chapter of the Global Anti-Scam Alliance.

Kathy has a master’s in American Government from The Johns Hopkins University and a BA from the University of Pittsburgh in Rhetoric and Communication.
