If you lived in New York in the 80s and 90s, you’ll remember woman’s activist and passionate NYC council member Ronnie Eldridge. Now the host of CUNY TV’s talk show Eldridge & Co, last spring she spoke with media technologist Deanna Zandt, the author of “Share This! How You Will Change the World with Social Networking.”
“I’m so impressed with the power and ability of social networking that we’ve seen recently. It’s just incredible. And I sometimes want to express my opinion or talk to other people that way, but I don’t…. Suppose if you’re someone like me and you want to do this, where do you go? How do you even find out where to go?”
Early in the talk, Eldridge admits to being a social network dummy and asks Zandt how a grandmother of 11 like herself can learn to understand Twitter and Facebook. And so an interview about why social networking is the future of civic and political organizing morphs into a crash course on the what, why and how of social networks.
