Since many of the book club readers are New Yorkers, I would like to recommend the book, Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk, a novel by Kathleen Rooney. (2017) The setting is New York City.
Another recommendation is Lisa See’s novel, The Island of Sea Women (2019) The Island of Sea Women introduces readers to the fierce and unforgettable female divers of Jeju Island and the dramatic history that shaped their lives.
It sounds very interesting to read the island of Sea women.
Reading this book was good for me. I’m going to let some time pass and then read it again. Elna, whose early choices cause a good deal of grief to Maeve, Danny and several others seems to have realized and later allows her better self to manifest. I like the way the remaining characters re-form themselves into a family. If Elna had been around, this reformation might have happened earlier.
