I am enjoying the historical background of this novel as well as the primary story. I am a little behind schedule but want to finishin time to join the Zoom discussion.
I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I have. I was quickly drawn in by the author’s vivid descriptions of the events in Spain and South America pre/post WWII. I also felt immediately connected to the main characters in this story.
I look forward to discussing the book with this group in February.
Allende covers much both in time and geography in these opening chapters. It all seems quite dark but suddenly relevant to our own time. Victor seems heroic; I’m eager to see what becomes of him.
The story is developing very nicely. Enjoying it so far
