NYC MOCTO: “City of New York Delivers 10,000 Internet Devices to older NYCHA Residents”

The New York City Mayor’s Office of the Chief Technology Officer (MOCTO) is partnering with the Department for Aging (DFTA) and New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) to provide 10,000 older New Yorkers with free internet-connected devices and learn how to use them to access free classes, resources, and essential services online.

NYCHA seniors will have access to a dedicated Senior Planet hotline, staffed by OATS certified multi-lingual trainers, for individualized personal assistance and tutoring with any issue or question they may have related to the use of the device, how to locate specific online resources, or how to perform a particular task, such as ordering food online.

OATS Director of Operations Alex Glazebrook says, “We’re glad to be part of such a comprehensive measure to make sure older New Yorkers have not only the tools to stay connected during a crisis, but also the resources they need to feel confident in using them.”
