Fundraising by gathering small donations from large numbers of people has been around much longer than the internet. But online platforms have made it easier than ever to raise money, including for charitable causes. This lecture will give an overview of donation-based crowdfunding and explore two popular platforms used by individuals and nonprofits to raise money: GoFundMe and Facebook Fundraisers.
