Share your Passion for Technology with Fellow Older Adults

Interested in a fun and helpful way to engage with our participants? Consider becoming one of our in-person course assistant volunteers!

During the Fall Quarter, starting October 10, 2022, we will be launching new courses on Tuesdays and Thursdays, specifically focused on using iPads, and we are actively looking for volunteers to help our instructor during the classes. Being proficient in using an iPad and wanting to have fun are the only requirements!

Introduce new technology in live, hands-on sessions

Senior Planet is piloting a new program: “Tech Tank” — a 30-minute session in which a volunteer docent introduces a piece of technology to participating older adults (ages 60+) at our Senior Planet center. We will begin by introducing the new Amazon Echo Show 8.

We are looking for volunteers who are older adults, well-versed in technology, and excited to share their expertise with others. We will train our volunteer docents and provide materials to hand out to participants.

Help older adults unlock the potential of their PC/Android devices

Senior Planet at Avenidas is looking for volunteers to assist us with our PC/Android Tech Talks — 30 to 40-minute sessions in which volunteers provide one-on-one tech support to Senior Planet participants (ages 60+).

Common participant questions include how to manage passwords, download apps, search the internet, create and manage an email account, organize files and folders, and share pictures and other files via email and text.

We would like to offer two or more 40-minute sessions of PC/Android tech help per week to be held via Zoom or in person at our Senior Planet center at Avenidas, located at 450 Bryant Street in Downtown Palo Alto. Please note that all volunteers assisting with in-person sessions must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and sign an AARP volunteer registration form.
