In this hands–on Volunteer-led workshop, you’ll learn the basics of mandalas and then create your own design. After a brief introduction, most of the session will be dedicated to making your mandala using materials of your choice.
Participants will leave the class with a completed mandala on an 8″ x 8″ or 8″ x 10″ base.
Class Prerequisites / Preparation
• Bring small items from home, your yard, or nature walks to use in your mandala.
Examples include pebbles, shells, buttons, beads, or other small objects.
• Please make sure all items are clean before bringing them to class.
• If you have a base (such as an 8″ x 8″ or 8″ x 10″ tile, canvas, or piece of wood), bring it with you. Materials, including bases and glue, will also be available in class if needed.
Instructor Bio
Debe Alikchihoo has loved art since childhood. Over the years, she has explored a wide range of creative mediums, including sketching, painting, clay work, and beading. She is especially drawn to art forms that encourage freedom of expression and have no “right” or“wrong” approach.
Mandalas are a favorite of Debe’s for this reason. She enjoys using a variety of materials—both natural and found—to create unique, personal designs. Her work often incorporates items such as pebbles, feathers, seed pods, seashells, printed candles, buttons, charms, and more. For Debe, the possibilities are truly endless, and she loves helping others discover their own creative voice.
