The Working Harbor Committee (learn more here) is determined to remind everyone that Manhattan is an island with a maritime industry. Although there are other events before and after, the 27th annual Tugboat Race kicks off with a Parade of Tugs starting at 11:15 am from Pier 84. You can pay to board a boat to watch the action (information and tickets here) or just wait at Pier 84 to see which tug takes first place. You can get more info by calling 212-757-1600 at the WHC.
