Stonewall – “The Birth of a Movement” with SAGE

Date & Time

Thu June 24 | EDT

Location

Online / By Phone

Description

The Stonewall Inn Riots sparked the beginning of the gay rights movement in America. Join us at this special partnered event with SAGE to learn how members of the LGBT+ community came together to protest exploitation and police harassment.

In this panel discussion we’ll look at how lessons learned from the Stonewall Riots may apply to the Movement for Racial Justice and the Movement against Police Brutality. We will also discuss the role of allyship and what white and non-black people of color can specifically be doing right now. You don’t have to be in the streets to be in solidarity! Bring your suggestions, questions, and willingness to learn, grow, and maybe even change your mind.

We encourage anyone aged 60 and over, no matter how you identify, to join this event! We will be accepting audience questions during the panel via the chat. Please note: Audience members joining by phone and not by Zoom will be unable to ask questions during the event. If you have a question, you may submit it ahead of time in the form below!

To join this event, please RSVP and the Zoom link will be emailed to you!
