A landmark brownstone housing one of the oldest private art clubs in the US, the Salmagundi Club throws open its ornate doors for a unique fundraiser. “Sounding Palettes: Windows into the Mind of the Artist” pairs works for piano or violin by French, Russian, Hungarian, English and German composers with a slideshow of selected paintings. The Club’s private dining room will be open for attendees afterwards but reservations are required at least one week in advance by calling 212-255-7740.
This gorgeous building, built in 1853, is the last remaining brownstone on Lower Fifth Avenue; the private dining room boasts four windows by Club member Louis Comfort Tiffany. Don’t forget to stop by the bar and say hello to the two Art Nouveau gargoyles holding up the archway to the Lower Gallery.
