This week’s topic: Stroke by Stroke: Art for Mental Health
Art therapy is a term commonly used in clinical settings, but its benefits extend far beyond professional practice and can be experienced simply through creative expression and painting. Art can help connect our inner thoughts with the outside world, offering a way to express feelings that words do not always capture.
Join this session to talk about how painting can create a calming, meditative “flow state,” where people lose track of time and experience lowered stress levels. We’ll also discuss how completing a piece of art can foster a sense of achievement and control, enhance self-esteem, support fine motor skills and dexterity, and keep the brain’s visual processing centers active and engaged.
