Congress has raised the age for required minimum distributions to 73 for many retirement accounts. Because these withdrawals count as earned income, they can affect your tax bracket and increase Medicare Part B and Part D costs. In this session, Rodney A. Brooks will show how these rules may influence your overall finances and why professional guidance can help you plan appropriately.
Presenter Bio:
Rodney A. Brooks writes about retirement and wealth and health inequities, with columns appearing in U.S. News & World Report and AARP’s Senior Planet, and previously in The Washington Post and USA TODAY. He is the author of The Rise and Fall of the Freedman’s Bank and It’s Lasting Socio-Economic Impact on Black America and Fixing the Racial Wealth Gap, which won the National Association of Black Journalists’ Outstanding Book Award in 2022 and was shortlisted for the SABEW Best in Business Book Awards. Brooks retired from USA TODAY in 2015 after 30 years as Deputy Managing Editor and a money and retirement columnist and has testified before the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging on retirement challenges facing Black Americans, particularly women. He was elected to the NABJ Hall of Fame in 2021 and currently chairs the National Association of Black Journalists Finance Committee. Click here to learn more about Mr. Brooks!
