Bulletin Board: Casting Call for Active Seniors

From time to time, Senior Planet receives requests from casting agencies looking for help in finding senior subjects for film and television, as well as other requests for seniors to get involved in projects of various kinds. In our new occasional Bulletin Board feature, we’ll pass along any that look worth following up. (We haven’t fully vetted these opportunities; click on the links at the end of each entry to draw your own conclusions.)

Are You Ready for Your Close-up?

Genuine People is currently seeking men and women in their 40s through 70s for a web-based, internet only project tied to an ad campaign. You must be in the NY area, physically active and engaged in any sport or hobby that involves movement and that you can perform on camera. Those with a unique activity will have a bit of an edge and, naturally, you must be comfortable talking about yourself.

How it works

By July 12, submit your answers to this online questionnaire.

If the casting director thinks you’re a good fit, you’ll be contacted promptly to schedule an individual Skype interview. These interviews will be conducted between July 12 and 14, and will be recorded and sent to the client/producer for review.

If you’re selected for the next phase, you’ll be contacted for a follow up interview, which will be either by Skype or in-person in the company’s downtown studio on July 13 or 14. Those selected for filming will be notified ASAP after the follow up interview to shoot sometime during the week of July 17.

If you’re selected for the shoot, you’ll be paid $1000 plus usage fees (the film will run online for one year with an option to possibly renew at the same rate). The production team will handle all payments and can notify you if you are included in the final cut, and where and when you can view it.

  1. Yes Thanks for the opportunity to be involved with this project. I am a very active senior dancing salsa, line, and swing dancing at least twice a week and would be an asset for your present and future activities and events. It would be fun and exciting.

    1. Hi Jane, as noted in our Bulletin Board feature, we do not endorse any of the agencies or companies whose senior opportunities we provide information in this feature. However, we have communicated with them over time by phone and email to verify information, and we provide a link to their website so you can see for yourself what the agency does and who is on their team. I hope this helps.

  2. Wish this was in California! I’m a 65 year old woman, and have been doing CrossFit for three years. Most weeks I workout 5 days. I can deadlift 190 pounds, and back squat 165, not bad for an old lady!

  3. Yes, I’d be happy to become involved in your project; I swim 3-4 times a week at either the Lenox Hill Neighborhood House (Frist Ave. @ 70th Street) and the city recreation center on E. 54 St. (btwn. 1st and 2nd) — also take a tap class at Lenox Hill N.H.
