I agree with your response about little Ganesha just being dumped in Chopra’s lap, metaphorically, of course.
But, love conquers all. Ooooh, I’ve said too much!

More interesting and engaging than I expected. As an ethical vegan and animal rights advocate, my initial reaction was negative because of the gift of the baby elephant, Ganesha, as an inheritance. Ganesha’s depressive state was cause for concern. However, Chopra’s care for the elephant, seeking veterinary treatment, educating himself on elephants, trying to protect Ganesha as best he could, helped me just read and enjoy the story. Poppy’s warming to and defending Ganesha is also heartwarming.
