Comments
This is the first I read by Carlos Zafon. It was a little difficult for me to follow and to hold my interest. After starting over again I was starting to understand it better. It wasn’t a bad book.
Hi I am new to the book club, but I guess I should wait until August when you start a new book? Is there a cote/nominations for the August book yet? And is the Zoom online discuss always the same time on last Thursday of every month? So Thurs Aug 29 at 4:30 EDT?
Thanks, excited to read with a group!
Welcome! We will be taking book suggestions at this Thursday’s Zoom discussion. You can also share suggestions you may have in this comments section. We’ll post a poll next Tuesday on the Book Club Archives page where you can cast your vote on the next two book selections (August and September). The Zoom discussion date depends on the length of the book, so it may vary. Stay tuned for updates on the exact dates for upcoming discussions.
Having a difficult time getting into this one. May be a DNF for me unfortunately
Carlos Zafon is one of my favorite writers. I was so sad when he passed away. Shadow of the Wind is brilliantly written. Barcelona right after the civil war, a mysterious library, tragic love, and the descriptions, the city, the landscape will keep you turning the pages.
Picking this book is perfect, now I’ll read it again and join in the book club fun! And of course, Shadow is just one in a series…
I agree, Paula, with your assessment of The Shadow of the Wind. This is the first time I’ve read anything by Carlos Zafon, and I just love the way he writes. He brings some intriguing characters to life and makes us empathize with them.
