This story is packed with all the human emotions you can think of. In 5 chapters we have read and experienced thru the characters , grief, loneliness and refection, unwanted pregnancy and abortion, doubt , repentance , guilt and remorse and positiveness on education. A lot to contemplate on, can’t wait to see what this young woman accomplishes in the next chapters.
I am enjoying reading the book. I also hope Nadia goes to college and not let what happen to here affect her future . I hope what happen to her is a learning experience and if she doesn’t make up with her boyfriend she will meet someone in college that will treat her with respect. I think the boyfriend still cares for her. I was surprise the mother had full knowledge of what happen because she the one that gave her son the $600.00 for the abortion and afterward hired Nadia as her assistant.
Hello!
I saw that Senior Planet has an online Book Club and wanted to give it a try.
What did I think?? I like her descriptive writing style and the pacing. It’s gritty by intention I think to capture Nadia’s and Aubrey’s sense of self and place.
What do I hope to see happen?? I hope Nadia does go to the University of Michigan as she wants but…………hmmmm I dunno. Funny how I’m watching kids going back on campus now…..or at least trying to.
Looking forward to reading other comments here. Thanks for the selection!
The Mothers was available from my library today. I will catch up in the reading.
