What book are we reading for April?
“Born A Crime” by Trevor Noah
I’m not sure that I will be at this week’s meeting but I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next!
I liked the book. Ellie was very naive. The Colonel was asking her about all her friends and it never dawned on her that he was looking for information. She had no clue about life except for what Homa told her. Their lives were different because of money. i wished they had stayed friends throughout. I am very sorry for what happened to Homa. I didn’t like how the book went from 1982 to 2022. It’s good that Ellie told Homa what happened.
I love reading and always have enjoyed a good book. Thanks for pointing me at this book as I thoroughly enjoyed it. As children Ellie and Homa did not seem to notice the class differences, Ellie was jealous of Homa’s family and life. As they grew older the class differences are very apparent as if Ellie represents those who have and Homa represents those who have not. The wealthy seemed to ignore the warning signs that the country was getting bad until it affected them directly.
I probably won’t be able to attend the meeting on 3/26.I have read the book and really enjoyed it. The women are really strong. it’s a shame how the women are treated in many countries. Our advocacy is so important. RAN
