I am reading The Nature of Fragile Things by Susan Meissner. The setting is the aftermath of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. The novel explores themes of friendship, trust, survival, and the resilience of women in the face of adversity. I would like to suggest this as a reading for the book club.
Man, I LOVE this book! I doubt if I’ll be able to finish it by Thursday because I watch my grandson every day. I’m in an area of Seattle that has a large Indian population and I’ve already had a conversation with an Indian friend in my women’s group who actually had henna “tats” on both her arms last Monday. She got them for a friend’s party. Thanks for recommending this read!
I am learning new things about the Indian culture and am really enjoying this book.
Hi Laurey – We’re so happy you’re enjoying the book. We hope to see you at the Zoom session next week!
I am enjoying this book so far and am looking forward to our discussion on the 1st. The main character, Lakshmi, will probably provoke some interesting conversation.
Hi Sharon – We agree! This is a great read so far. We look forward to hearing your thoughts at the Zoom session!
