She shares the challenges to her young life with an open and honest voice. I am sure that the audience she stated she was writing for (in her introduction) were helped and inspired by her struggles and victories.
I appreciate and resonate with your comments. Her description of her life is certainly refreshing and provides an inspiring example of what is possible in U.S. society. It provides a hopeful perspective particularly important amidst so much disturbing current news.
I really appreciated this book choice because it introduced me to such a remarkable person and a part of US culture I was unfamiliar with especially because I was living in Japan for 40 years while most of what she describes took place.
She is such an articulate and honest writer with a prodigious memory for the detail of her life. I was cheering for her all along the way as she mastered so many challenges and brought her life into increasing balance.
