Straight pornography! So unnecessary to tell the story…whatever it is. Couldnt get past chapt 10 even skipping the italicized stories. I’m out!! Better book next time.
I disagree with Irma. There are so many angles to this book – Gaps of understanding between generations
Gaps of cultural understanding between immigrants and their 1st generation children
Differences between cultures
Differences in how younger adults imagine their elders’ lives. Can our adult children imagine that seniors can enjoy a sexually satisfying life – and miss it when their partner dies? The tragic parts of the story reflect the results of forcing people to do or be what doesn’t work for them. Just look at the current news about Princess Mako marrying a commoner. Yes, I was amazed by the books erotic aspects – how daring! How daring for Senior Planet choosing this book. Thank you. Look forward to the discussion.
My flatmate is from Punjab and I though to read this book to gain an insight on punjabi culture. Now I can’t help wondering if he is aware of the alternative uses of the tub of ghee in our fridge!
Just wanted to forward this information from week 1’s comments in case anyone is still seeking a free copy of this month’s book for participation in the book club’s discussion on November 4th.
My public library does not have a print nor electronic copy of “Erotic Stories…” for loan. Fortunately, I searched the Internet and was able to find a free electronic copy to download. For all those having a problem securing a library borrow, clink the below link and scroll all the way to the bottom of the webpage, and then select dowload from the 2 formats available: pdf or ePub dowload. Skip the signup section and go directly to the dowload options at the bottom of the page. Here’s the free copy link: https://largepdf.net/erotic-stories-for-punjabi-widows/
Thanks for the information Petisia. I finished the book and returned the book to my library but will refresh my reading before we meet .
