Comments
The intergenerational aspect of the novel was interesting. Meddy is a college-educated first generation America and her aunts are practical and have made successful careers for themselves without the need for formal education. They know how to solve problems while Meddy is at a loss of what to do.
Like many first generation children Meddy hasn’t kept up with her family’s language and culture.
Thanks to Petisa for her AI presentation for the book. I really got a lot from her remarks when we were reading Jim.
Aunties will make a good Netflix movie, In the book I found Meddy very annoying. It was also hard to picture the aunts.
Learning that Jake suffocated was awful. I don’t think this twist in the story was necessary.
I find the endless twists in the story excessive. Less is more, I think.
I agree with you about Jake being suffocated.
Well this is my first time here. In the preface of the book she mentions that her Aunts are trilingual . Also that we should not pay attention to their miss speak or guage them unintelligent. I never think that of people speaking a different lanuage. I always think that they are very brave.
I think the story is entertaining on the surface. I like the family sticking together. Howevre the fact of hiding the body & the abuse of the body was
horrendous. Plus not reporting in. But alas it is a boo
I am enjoying the book. Itis light and definitely unique. it makes for good night time kindle reading. I love the humorous family dynamics.
