Open Thread final: Your 2021 Playlist
It might be a bit too early to think about a playlist for 2021, or readers are still looking through their vinyl, CDs, MP3 players and Spotify, but there are a few who came through…
“I have loved an artist from my teen years called “Deodato”…”
-Diane
I can relate to not wanting to hear words, Diane!
Another reader had more general preferences….
“..I’m more of a classic rock, soft rock and 70’s kind of guy…”
-Michael
We’ll keep this thread open for a while longer and may even revisit it later on, but in the meantime, thanks for playing!

Hi, if this thread is still open, I thought maybe you’d like some actual playlists? I listen to many but here are some samples if anyone is interested.
Some of these are from my iTunes Library and I’ve purchased the songs. There are many streaming services like Pandora, Spotify, Apple Music and my current favorite, Tidal that offer trial subscriptions. If you stick with one, the monthly cost is reasonable if you consider that you’re helping to support the artists you love!
If I had to pick two songs to kick off 2021 they would be “What the World Needs Now Is Love” Jackie DeShannon and “It’s Gonna Be Alright” Theo Croker
Here are some of the songs I’m listening to (and dancing to in my apartment.) Some are from playlists I put together when I was ballroom dancing before the pandemic:
“Blue Moon” Willie Nelson
“That’s All I Need” Jackie Wilson
“Moulin Rouge” Juliette Greco
“Blowing Away” Laura Nyro
“Wait a Little While” Kenny Loggins

Joining the”music lovers”!
It is reported that music has an effect on the brain. I listen to all kinds of music. I love Jazz, and lots now available virtually. Over the past year I have been listening to”Jazz Now” at Takoma Radio, MD, Streaming: Live@takomaradio.org, or WOWD-LP 94.3 FM… offers progressive, urban, smooth jazz, standard, etc…, and weekly interviews jazz musicians.
Check it out !
I love all music. I love to sing. I love to dance. I love Spotify and YouTube. My hobby is finding obscure music like the one I ran across A diet between James Brown and Paverotti!
“Upon the Roof” as in first stanza: “when this ole world isa getting me down and… ”
Can’t remember who sings it. Plus, the gist is that when he’s feeling down, he goes “upon the roof”. Anyway, it’s a nice, gentle soft rock style fun to sing along to.
Other one is something like “walkin on a Sunday afternoon with….and Sue”
So sorry, I can hear the tune, but don’t remember the words. Soft rock.
