I actually enjoy the hard books. The characters are so well developed and it is what I usually read.
Just finishing up the book as I was late to the game lol!
Has the next book been chosen yet?
Hi Pat! We will release a poll in next week’s article so folks can vote for the next two books. The book selections will be revealed in an article on June 6th.
I’m a little late getting this started. I am listening to the Audible version. I am transfixed by the narrator.
This book is not an easy read. There is a lot of detail and words I’ve never run across before. I will probably stick with it to find out what was in the 11-page letter, but I’m not sure. I can see why the audiobook might be more enjoyable.
The 2 times I tried to read “Love in the Time of Cholera,” I stopped FAST; I had no idea of the “who, what, where, when, or why” of it. (I read some of his early works without difficulty.) James Joyce’s writing in “Ulysses,” was also impossible for me to get into! Odd, since Toni Morrison’s, “Beloved,” could be considered hard to follow, but I love all her books and “Beloved” particular. I also tried, but do not like Faukner! For me hard reads are not necessarily worth the trouble!
I’m finding it hard going as well. It is one of those ‘worthy books’ that everyone was reading at one time. Am not sure yet if I have the time and inclination to finish it. I’m finding the obsessional love theme downright irritating.
Enjoying the audiobook!
Hi Bernadette!
